Complex products and supply chains present plenty of possibilities for failure, especially when new products are being launched. APQP has existed for decades in many forms and practices. APQP helped Ford suppliers develop appropriate prevention and detection controls for new products supporting the corporate quality effort. Suppliers utilize APQP to bring new products and processes to successful validation and drive continuous improvement. There are numerous tools and techniques described within APQP.
Each tool has potential value when applied in the correct timing. Tools that have the greatest impact on product and process success are called the Core Tools.Create Control Charts (X-Bar & R Chart) in Excel
The other Core Tools are:. APQP is a structured approach to product and process design. This framework is a standardized set of quality requirements that enable suppliers to design a product that satisfies the customer. The primary goal of product quality planning is to facilitate communication and collaboration between engineering activities. The product or process benefits are designed in through prevention.
APQP supports the early identification of change, both intentional and incidental. These changes can result in exciting new innovation supporting customer delight. When not managed well they translate to failure and customer dissatisfaction.Sara stedy rental canada
The focus of APQP is utilization of tools and methods for mitigating the risks associated with change in the new product or process. APQP supports the never ending pursuit of continuous improvement.
The fifth section specifically allows an organization to communicate learnings and provide feedback to develop standard work and processes. A list of APQP benefits are:. Requirements that translate into more detailed specifications are clarified and decomposed to more detail as the process continues. APQP is used in 2 ways:. APQP supplements product development processes by adding a focus on risk as a substitute for failure. This allows the team to take action on the risk instead of having to wait for failure to occur in testing or worse, in the hands of the customer.
APQP utilizes risk based tools that focus on all aspects of product and process design, service, process quality control, packaging and continuous improvement.
Each application of APQP may be unique to a previous application because of the percentage of new content, changes to current off-the-shelf technology or past failure history. APQP follows a product or process change outside of Product Development and assures the risk of change is managed successfully by preventing problems created by the change.A structured method of defining the steps process necessary to assure that a product satisfies the customer The goal of APQP is to facilitate communication with everyone involved to ensure that all required steps are completed on time.

Issues like these make the need for a work force proficient in the principles and practices of the North American Automotive Quality Core Tools a central concern to many automotive companies. By taking both a knowledge and application exam you can earn formal certification. Achieving certification can be value-added for both you and your company. You will become a certified expert with globally recognized credentials. Your employer will be able to assure their customers that a highly qualified individual is performing the process and can meet the competency requirements as defined in IATF clauses and the applicable North American Automotive Quality Core Tool reference manuals.

Even if you have a quality management system in place, APQP is worth the effort, especially if you are in the business of manufacturing new or improved products. Production processes often have inherent risks, such as process failures.P1654 ross tech
Following the APQP process can help minimize these risks. In turn, risk management leads to greater quality control and business success. General Motors, Ford, and Chrysler all had an APQP deployment and saw the need to come together to create a common core of product quality-planning principles for suppliers. Because supply chains are important in automotive manufacturing, the intent was to make sure supplier partners met customer quality requirements for each component supplied.
Since then, APQP has gained momentum and has sparked interest among manufacturers in many industries. The aim is to create a product quality plan for developing and manufacturing products that meet customer requirements. When customer demands require the introduction of a new product or an overhaul of an existing one, preliminary planning becomes front and center, even before discussions of product design or redesign.
Planning activities include gathering necessary data to define what the customer wants and then using the information to hash out product characteristics.
The quality program needed to create the product as specified can then be defined. The output of this work includes product design, reliability, and quality goals. Completing product design is the focus of this phase. This is also where a product feasibility assessment comes into play. This phase focuses on planning the manufacturing process that will produce the new or improved product.
The goal is to design and develop the production process while keeping product specifications, product quality, and production costs in mind. The process must be able to produce the quantities needed to meet expected consumer demand while maintaining efficiency. The full-scale production launch occurs in this phase, with emphasis on evaluating and improving processes.
Mainstays in this phase include reducing process variations, identifying issues, and starting corrective actions to support continual improvement, as well as collecting and assessing customer feedback and data related to process efficiency and quality planning effectiveness. APQP provides a structure for planning, defining, and completing necessary activities to produce products that are on-target for customer needs and expectations.
For manufacturers, the incentive for using an APQP is the potential to achieve a successful product launch in which product and process risks are minimized and competitiveness is improved.Metrics details. Population aging is an important phenomenon for many countries worldwide. Considering the growing trend of aging population in Iran, it is very important to consider beliefs and perceptions of old people about aging.
The Aging Perception Questionnaire APQ is one of the most common instruments that used to measure aging comprehension. The present study was a methodological inquiry that aimed to examine validity and reliability of the Persian version of the Aging Perception Questionnaire APQ.
Forward-backward procedure was used for translation. Content validity and face validity were evaluated qualitatively. In order to evaluate construct validity a cross section study was conducted and both exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses were performed. A total of elderly people attending the community centers in Tehran, Iran were entered in other study and completed the Persian version of the questionnaire. Most elderly were female The mean age of participants was The results obtained from exploratory factor analysis showed a four-factors solution consequences negative, emotional representation, control positive and consequences positive that jointly explained In addition the confirmatory factory analysis showed a good fit for the data.
The ICC value of 0. The results indicated that the Persian version of APQ is valid and can be used to measure aging perception in Iran. Population aging is one of the most important social phenomena that are happening almost in all countries with different rates and paces [ 1 ].
Aging is a stage of the human life cycle, and based on different interpersonal relationships, people tend to form different perceptions of the biological, psychological, and social aspects of this phenomenon [ 3 ]. It is argued that perception of ageing is a criterion for aging satisfaction, and reflects level of adaptation to age-dependent changes [ 6 ]. The factors influencing perception of aging at individual level include type of attitudes toward aging, mental age, gender, health status, financial status, marital status, religion, knowledge on aging, satisfaction with aging, and level of belief in internal locus of control.
However it is believed that at social level the following factors could influence aging perception: modernism, culture, and social and family relationships [ 7 ]. As far as perception of aging relates to culture an extensive body of the literature exist. For instance in an scholarly paper McCann points out that while people in different cultures share some basic prototypes of aging perceptions, there are considerable inconsistencies about older people from one country to another [ 8 ].
A study on perceptions of aging across 26 cultures including countries from Asia and the West reported that variations in aging perceptions were associated with culture-level indicators of population aging, education levels, values, and national character stereotypes [ 9 ]. Thus, it seems that assessing aging perception in different countries is essential.
In terms of assessing perception of aging, a recommended instrument is the Aging Perceptions Questionnaire APQ that is a comprehensive and multidimensional questionnaire.
It has been translated into different languages, and used in different countries, including the Netherlands [ 10 ], Brazil [ 11 ], China [ 12 ], France [ 13 ] and also among Turkish immigrants in the Netherlands [ 14 ].
Considering the importance of assessing perception of aging in the elderly population of Iran, and given the cultural differences between Iran and developed countries regarding aging, the present study aimed to translate the Aging Perceptions Questionnaire APQ from English into Persian and assess its psychometric properties in Iran.Once you have implemented APQP for one product, should you implement it for its further changes?
